Featured

Coble, Colleen. Secrets at Cedar Cabin: Lavender Tides- Book 3. Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson Publishing. 2019.

SUMMARY:
Literally running for her life, Bailey Fleming flees Michigan to the safety of Cedar Cabin in Lavender Tides. Not quite sure how she truly fits in, nor even for sure her true identity, Bailey soon discovers even Cedar Cabin may not be safe. Meeting FBI agent Lance Phoenix, who believes she may be involved in illegal activity, Bailey must decide if she can help Lance find his missing sister, if she can protect herself from a murderer out to find her, and if she needs to keep track of her heart in the process…

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
As usual with author Colleen Coble, the action and suspense begins right from the start of the story and Secrets at Cedar Cabin is no exception. Full of identity mysteries, a murderer at large, a missing teenager, a human trafficking ring, suspicious activity and evolving emotions, Secrets at Cedar Cabin is an attention-grabber ensuring late reading into the night. As book 3 in the Lavender Tides series, I did not have a problem following the storyline though I haven’t read all of the previous novels. Definitely an author I read often, I will continue to look for new books from this author as well as continue with this series.

Vendetta

Harris, Lisa. Vendetta: The Nikki Boyd Files Series- Book 1. Grand Rapids, MI: Revell Publishing. 2016.

*vendetta

SUMMARY:
As a detective with the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force, Agent Nikki Boyd takes her job personally. With the abduction of her own sister years earlier, Nikki suspects there may still be a link to her sister with the current abduction. Needing the help of her friend, Tyler Grant, both Nikki and Tyler discover more than surprises connected to the case but also to their own hearts…

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Definitely a great start to a new suspense series, Vendetta is full of surprises, twists, loss, faith, hope and romance. Though a common theme or storyline found in other novels, author Lisa Harris handles it well. Keeping my interest while the pages turned, I finished this book in just a few days. Even when the clues became obvious, the direction spun and kept me engaged. Fast, clean, well written and fun, I enjoyed this non-stop suspenseful novel to the end.

The Movement of Rings

Keels, Nadine C. The Movement of Rings: The Movement of Crowns- Book 2. Smashwords. 2013.

themovementofrings

SUMMARY:
As a servant to King Aud of Mundayne, spirited maid Naona finds herself entrusted with his signet ring. Torn between staying loyal to the royal family or the Princess of Diachona, Naona must also consider her own future. Hoping to not end up alone yet ashamed of her past, Naona finds herself needing to face her own inner strife while doing what is right for the people. Told from a different perspective than that of Book 1, The Movement of Crowns, author Nadine Keels sweeps readers away into a world of fantasy, romance, secrets, strength, courage and faith…

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Though I liked Book 1 of the Movement of Crowns series, I really liked Book 2. Not quite sure why I preferred it, I was drawn to it from the first page and didn’t stop until I finished. Written as completely as a full novel, surprisingly, it is actually a novella. With fully developed characters, a bit of sass and spirit, faith woven within, and turmoil mixed throughout, The Movement of Rings is an outstanding sequel.  Word choices, content, and characters definitely work well together for this second trip into fantasy. Remarkably, I am looking forward to Book 3, The Movement of Kings. (Nadine, you may just change my perspective on the fantasy genre yet!)
