Wonders of Creation

Wilde, Cindy. Phuapradit, Pimlada. Wonders of Creation: Illustrations to Color and Inspire. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan Publishing. 2016.

Full of animals found in the savannah, the forest, and the sea, each finely detailed, well illustrated page beckons to be colored in gorgeous hues. Elephants, rabbits, porpoises, monkeys and moon jellies are only a few of the many creatures which fill the sturdy, white, smooth pages found within Wonders of Creation. Giving all the credit to God for his world of unique creations, the different patterns, line thickness, intricacy and detail allow for inspiration, design and spirit to prevail…

Amazing! Owning quite a few coloring books, especially many with an animal theme, I must admit this is one of my absolute favorites. Loving the facial expressions, the beautiful patterns and the various included animals, the penguin, walrus, sloth and raccoon were my favorite pictures to color (due to their cuteness, smiles and decorations). As an animal coloring book delighting in the wonders of God’s creations, this book is sure to please both young and old. Astounding!

The Time Garden

Song, Daria. The Time Garden: A Magical Journey and Coloring Book. USA: Watson-Guptill Publications. 2015.

timegardenOn a whimsical journey through a cuckoo clock, a little girl follows the clock fairy into the clock and the hidden magical world within her dreams. Throughout the story are intricately drawn sketches of the adventure just yearning to be colored. With a master’s degree in fiber arts, Daria Song’s beautiful artwork shines through. Presented in a beautiful jacket cover, The Time Garden boasts thick pages, lots of creative room and encourages taking time to return to a simpler frame of mind…

With the included short story inspired by the author’s sense of wonder and mystery of living in a far-away place, it blended perfectly with the black and white illustrations begging to be filled in with color. With the new trend of adult-coloring appearing recently, I was interested in trying the coloring movement and found this book to be the ideal opportunity. Equipped with colored pencils, a bit of time and some artistic ideas, I truly reveled in the pages as the stress slipped away, my thoughts floated past and peace settled within. What a wonderful concept with amazing results (even including my masterpieces).
