Knowing and trusting the American Heart Association name, I was very interested in the newest edition of the cookbook. With simple yet delicious recipes, the only thing missing was pictures. Appreciating the nutritional sense included at the beginning of the book, this cookbook leaves no doubt as to the health of the recipes. Already watching my family’s diet, The New American Heart Association Cookbook only makes it easier and much more enjoyable. Absolutely a book to keep and share, this new edition updates tried-and-true past recipes mixed with new ones. With a focus on quick and easy methods and menus, there is something healthy for everyone. Sure to become a staple in American kitchens as healthy lifestyles emerge.

With recipes such as a healthy Taco Salad, Chilled Asparagus Soup, Slow Cooker Pepper Steak and Cherry Pear Turnovers, most items are available in the local supermarket, the directions are straightforward and the results are nutritious and delicious. Definitely a cookbook worth considering, it is sure to be one I will use often. Nothing fancy yet so very hearty, healthy and appetizing.

A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
I love being able to cook healthy, quick yet delicious meals for my family so this cookbook was perfect for me. With ingredients found in your pantry or easily accessible, I liked the variations on recipes resulting in tasty, heart-healthy meals even the pickiest of eaters may like. Steamed lemony green beans with almonds, grilled Baja fish tacos, and Orange-apricot smoothies were some of my favorites. With safe cooking practices, calorie-level serving recommendations, nutritional values and easy-to-follow recipes, this book may be perfect for college students, newlyweds, retired people or anyone looking for fresh, bright and beneficial recipes or new cooking techniques. Only thing that may have made this book even more useful would be additional pictures to enhance it, otherwise, it is a cookbook I will definitely use often.

Who knew healthy cooking could be so easy? Such a wonderful cookbook should grace every home and benefit every heart. Squash, potatoes, Tilapia, pasta, tortillas, cranberries, dark chocolate…all are turned into delicious heart-healthy meals. Ingredient equivalents, nutritive information per serving, preparation time, a shopping guide and helpful hints round out each recipe. The pictures contained in the cookbook are beautiful…I only wish there were a few more (but at least now my completed recipes cannot be compared to them…LOL). Absolutely a book I will use repeatedly and may even share.
