Walsh, Robb. The Chili Cookbook. USA: Ten Speed Press. 2015.
SUMMARY:
Chock full of restaurant-grade chili, homemade chili, stories surrounding chili and new, delicious recipes for chili, restaurateur and author, Robb Walsh, spreads his knowledge in The Chili Cookbook. Updated, unique and complete with tidbits of history and scrumptious pictures, the included recipes range from three-bean to four-alarm, and con carne to vegetarian…something for everyone!
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
With cooler weather upon us and colder weather just around the corner, chili will soon be the dinner of choice. From easy recipes to more ambitious ones, I found many new chili recipes to try which should help me to get out of the ordinary, not-so-exciting chili slump I sometimes find myself in. The history of chili (along Route 66), the modern-age of chili (President Obama’s recipe), the controversial use of spaghetti in chili, the tradition of beans in chili, as well as varying ingredients used in chili (sweet potatoes, berries, pot roast), all make for a very interesting book which I plan to keep on my counter for lots of winter use. I really appreciate the slow-cooker icon signaling the recipe will work well in a slow-cooker for those really busy days. Satisfying!
