Davidson, Jeff. No More Peanut Butter Sandwiches: A Father, A Son with Special Needs, and Their Journey with God. USA: Crosslink Publishing. 2014.
SUMMARY:
Written for anyone going through a situation, a trial or a challenge, No More Peanut Butter Sandwiches shares a father’s experiences of raising a special-needs child. Born with cerebral palsy, autism and a seizure disorder, Jon Alex has taught his father that God’s choices are indeed perfect and specifically placed in life. Full of personal stories, heartfelt emotions, tender realizations and a strong faith, this novel is encouraging and inspirational for all to read.
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Though not necessarily an easy book to read, it is definitely a story which will strike strong emotions and understanding within. Appreciating and learning about life with a special-needs person, this book shared grief, love, laughter and faith. Shining a light on caregivers and God’s intentional acts, Jeff Davidson became an ambassador and missionary for special-needs people. (Check his website: risingabove.com.) I applauded this father as he learned his son was actually the teacher, and though possibly without admiration now, caregivers and special-needs people will be given a standing ovation in heaven.
