D’Arabian, Melissa. Supermarket Healthy: Recipes and Know-How for Eating Well Without Spending a Lot. New York, NY: Clarkson Potter/ Publishers. 2014.
SUMMARY:
Food Network star, Melissa D’Arabian, not only knows how to cook healthy but also how to shop cost-effectively. With affordable and easy recipes, Melissa D’Arabian utilizes items in most home pantries, healthy options found (on sale) in most stores, and new wholesome ideas for common fare. With prep time, cooking time, pictures and nutritional values included, Supermarket Healthy makes dinner a hearty, healthy snap.
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
As a fan of Melissa D’Arabian and Food Network, I was excited to read and review her new cookbook. Having most of the items on-hand already while substituting easily for those I did not (or chose not to include), I found this book easy to use and follow. Breakfast, snacks, soups, veggies, pasta, seafood, meat, sides and desserts were all included in very attainable recipes. I especially enjoyed the added personal thoughts introducing each recipe along with the extra information scattered throughout (making soups kid-friendly, should you salt eggplant). After-all, who doesn’t want to eat healthy while saving money?
