Rosenberger, Peter. Hope For The Caregiver: Encouraging Words to Strengthen Your Spirit. Brentwood, TN: Worthy Publishing. 2014.
SUMMARY:
Empowered by taking care of his wife, Peter Rosenberger shares what he has learned through the many care-giving years. Through quotes, Bible verses, personal stories and encouragement, Hope For The Caregiver offers caregivers (past, present and future) just what they need most…the motivation and power to continue, even during emotional turmoil, doubt, exhaustion and isolation. With a myriad of ideas from taking a vacation, attending church, enjoying laughter, finding support and a firm faith, care-giving can mean so much more…
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Speaking from experience adds credence to this author, making Hope For The Caregiver even more dynamic. Written as a devotional-type book, it would be perfect as a gift for every caregiver. Being a bit smaller in size would even allow it be portable. I found the thoughts, ideas and reflections to be full of faith and so encouraging. The “Caregiver’s Prayer’ found at the front of the book repeats again at the end of book which had a greater impact on me due to my experience of reading the book. Many people will care for someone in their lives; this book helps to offer comfort and confidence in doing so while assuring that feelings experienced are normal. Most importantly, I learned how necessary it is to keep the person separate from the pain/ condition/ disease and that God has a plan for us all.
