White, Roseanna M. Whispers from the Shadows. Eugene, OR: Harvest House Publishers. 2013.
Gwyneth Fairchild is sent from Great Britain to America for her own protection. Moments prior to leaving her home, she witnesses her father being murdered by someone she never dreamed capable of murder. The secrets surrounding her father’s death follow her across the ocean and threaten her in the New World. Mysteries, both old and new, must be solved before Gwyneth and those she love can remain in safety.
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Roseanna White offers her readers a novel that contains a well woven plot with intriguing mystery. However, the character of Gwyneth Fairchild proved to be a character too weak to adequately play the role required of the main female character. Where strength and confidence were needed, fear and hesitation were provided. This characterization of Gwyneth is contrasted by the character, Thad Lane, who actively confronts his past to display strength in the present. Overall, the novel remains an engaging read; albeit, the characters would benefit from further development.
